Allow yourself a little luxury. Pick up from Day 7 of the ‘Dreams of the Taj’ program and extend your journey to discover some of the greatest ancient cities in the world. Khajuraho, with its world famous temples and sculptures.And Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world and the nerve centre of Hinduism. Day 7: Transfer to the airport in Agra to take a flight to Khajuraho, where you will discover a quiet little village with 1000 year old temples that are living testimony to the brilliance of Indo-Aryan architecture. Built by the Chandela dynasty, these temples are liberally embellished with artistic stonework, prominent among which are the erotic sculptures that portray heavenly pleasures on earth. Day 8: From Khajuraho, fly to Varanasi, the Eternal City on the banks of the holy River Ganges. Considered to be among the most ancient cities of the world, Varanasi has been a centre of learning and civilisation for over 2000 years. Today, it is still one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India, and also a major tourist attraction. From Varanasi, you can visit Sarnath where Buddha gave his first discourse after attaining enlightenment. Day 9: Start the day with a boat ride on the River Ganges at sunrise. See the faithful cleanse themselves of their sins in this, the holiest of rivers. Spend the rest of the morning at leisure, wandering through the fascinating lanes and by-lanes of Varanasi. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport where you will board your flight for Delhi. Arrive in Delhi and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and recall your memorable journey, or just wander around for the last time in Delhi. Day 10: Transfer to the international airport for your departure flight, carrying some beautiful memories back home. |
